As if I was not nerdy enough...
I have delved into the world of graphic novels.
I can feel the classic tKenyon ‘Nerd’ call coming, so let me justify why at age 23 I have decided to take up one of my last unexplored nerdy niches.
I don’t know if I am going to become a comic book reader, I have simply read a comic book (and will most likely read the rest of the volumes in the series). I read Bryan Lee O’Malley’s ‘Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life - Volume 1’ this weekend and I am unashamed to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book suited me for several reasons:
- It is set in Toronto.
- Scott Pilgrim plays in a rockband that plays at ‘the rockit’ in Toronto which is a venue my band used to play at back in the day.
- Scott Pilgram dates an 18 year old Asian highschool girl.
- The art was enjoyable.
- The plot is cute.

The premise of the book is that Scott Pilgrim falls in love with the Amazon.ca delivery girl and in order to date her, he needs to defeat her 7 evil ex-boyfriends.
How did I hear of this series? Well, it got pretty rave reviews on some of the social media websites I read, and is being turned into a movie starring Michael Cera to be released in 2009.
I apologize for like graphic novels, but I guess I kind of do…
P.S. You may have noticed that I stated I would justify why I took up comics but didn’t do it.
